BREAKING NEWS: Government to Set Up 4 Water Aerodromes Set Up IN Gujarat
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani Ji has decided to propose a MoU with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India by the state government for the development of 4 big water aerodromes in the state of Gujarat at the state cabinet meeting tomorrow, Wednesday.
These 4 water Aerodromes shall be developed at Sabarmati Riverfront Ahmedabad, Sardar Sarovar Dam, Narmada-Kevadia, Shetrunjya Dam Palitana and Dharoi Dam Mehsana under the GoI's Regional Connectivity Scheme Sixth Flight 3 and 4. For this purpose, the State Govt. will have to make available 1 to 2.5 acres of land depending on the requirement. Not only that, in the future, with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Government of India, the scope of air services will be expanded by setting up aerodromes at few more places as well.
Water Aerodrome is an area of open water that will be used for landing and taking off by amphibious aircraft. Moreover, depending on the amount of traffic, planes can be parked on the sea shore in the water aerodrome and there can be a terminal building on the ground side. Some island nations, especially the rich ones like the British Virgin Islands, have water drums. Also in Canada are Yellowknife on Great Slave Lake, Tofino on Vancouver Island and Whitehorse on Schwartz Lake.
With the launch of this water aerodrome service in Gujarat also, air service will be available to the people all over the state and beyond and tourism activity will also get a boost, and also more employment opportunities will be available in the state and such water drums will be useful during natural calamities.
The Airport Authority of India will act as the implementing agency in this project. The Airport Authority will assist the State Government for master planning for the development of such water aerodromes. Water Aerodrome will be developed by the Airports Authority of India. Not only that, the Water National Hydrographic Office will conduct a survey of this water aerodrome site.
The Government of Gujarat will have to obtain Water Aerodrome Site Clearance under the Greenfield Airport Policy from the Steering Committee on Water Aerodrome of the Central Government. The state government will operate and maintain the water aerodrome as well as provide electricity, water and other services.
The state government will also have to get the necessary approvals for the development of the water aerodrome as well as provide the land as required. The land will be owned by the Director Civil Aviation on behalf of the state government.
